Ideal relationship between seniors and juniors

  Executive Vice President
  Mr. Katsuya Araki

Mr. Araki has been living in New York for 20 years now. He first got to experience the enjoyment of living in foreign country during his stay in Philippines while in college. During his stay, his goal became clear that he wanted to make his living outside of his own country. His dream came true when he entered “POLA”, located in Philippine, after graduating from college. He now works for “POLA USA Inc. New York Office” as an executive vice president.

Ideal seniors and juniors that Araki yearned

When I talk about seniors, joining the company for prompt time. The seniors I’m referring to are the seniors of my closest seniors looked upon on. During that time there were 2 types of seniors. The one that looks up and the one that looks down. The senior that I aspired to were the latter type. Of course he would listen what his boss will say, but he always kept his eye on his junior colleagues. He would think about us, guide us in such a way that he was able to appeal himself to making him reach towards another level. But for the senior that I introduced for the first type, he had high standards and desires to reach the top but he never had any support from his juniors. He gave errands to his juniors but he never had followers that followed him because he simply never communicated with them. He was well treated from his seniors but not from the juniors and this led to down fall of his career. Having good followers can be a good foundation for person’s career. So since the day I began to have juniors under my side, learning from that experience, I learned that it is important to become a reliant person from the juniors in order to excel my career towards another goal. I am trying every possible way of doing those things.

I like people who are responsible. Whether this person is my friend or junior colleague, responsible person are hard workers. Responsible person has the power to make people to convince, and I believe this can lead to a success in this person’s career. As a boss, I evaluate our achievements through numerical process. However, we are all human beings. Although numbers are very easy to comprehend, it only provides the estimates of our achievements. Work is not about accomplishing them systematically. What I want the most of our juniors are the positive attitudes, dedication and hard work. My true sense of happiness comes from us working together as collective unit, working with passion and joyful manner towards our common goal.

Our work is mostly based on sales jobs. Our job is to sell the products through developing mutual relationships with the other. This certainly is the most difficult part. However, at the same time, it is the most enjoyable and appealing part of our job too. I am doing this for 20 years. Please take my word for it.
